Patient Testimonials
“Regarding endometriosis, I don’t believe the fertility
doctors or regular GYNs know what they’re talking about. I haven’t had one
friend in NYC who’s had endo who could find a doctor here to help her. I really
believe that Dr. Lyons’ degree of surgical skill, which removed this severe endo
and preserved my uterus, enabled me to get pregnant again. I refer everybody to
him. I’d go nowhere else for any other procedure.”
Maria Rivera, mother of four children in New Jersey
“Always pick your doctors based on their experience.
Never pick based on gender, religion or skin color. Ask other doctors—and
nurses—who they would recommend. That’s why I chose Dr. Lyons.”
Carol Martin, cosmetic surgery consultant, Atlanta, GA
“I’ve heard from so many women about residual problems
after these surgeries, like bladder leakage problems or pain from scar tissue.
In my case, I was up in four days—and now at three weeks I have to remind myself
not to overdo. I couldn’t even see the tiny incision in my navel after two
weeks. Dr. Lyons and his team are so great! God was good to steer me in the
right direction. Dr. Cowles and Dr. Hudak both said he is the best!”
Claudia Murawski, active grandmother, Lake Oconee, GA
“The
recent Atlanta Constitution article attests to your openness toward all
the choices and alternatives your patients often want to discuss with you. I
understand from friends who have dealt with their own doctors that many MD’s are
not at all open to the information their patients bring to the table. Quite
literally, sometimes they are laughed at by their physician, which makes me
wonder why they’d continue to use that “professional’s” services.
From
personal experience, I was really gratified that you didn’t bat an eye when I
told you about the Chinese herbs, homeopathic remedies and hypnotherapy tapes I
was using to strengthen my system before, during and after my supracervical
laparoscopic hysterectomy.
I also
want to thank you for being so open and empathetic toward all the psychological
issues that surround removal of the childbearing organs. These are huge issues
which, when thoroughly discussed, can lift a great emotional burden from the
patient. I know your background in clinical psychology certainly helps your
patients a great deal. You’re a good listener.
What the
article doesn’t express is how many options and alternatives you present to your
patients before surgery and often instead of it. As you’ve said many times,
it’s really the patient’s choice and the patient’s decision regarding the
treatment, but many doctors, especially surgeons, take the view that it’s “my
way or the highway.”
Thank
God someone with your incredible talent as a surgeon also understands how to be
approachable, understanding and human! I only hope more women realize that all
medical professionals should have these attributes. And if their doctor
doesn’t, they can find professionals who truly care at the Center for Women’s
Care & Reproductive Surgery.”
Patrice
Dickey, consultant, Atlanta, GA
“To be honest, I could have been back to work the next
day. I had the surgery around 8am, and by 2pm I asked them to bring me my
clothes so I could go home. Dr. Lyons is remarkable. His staff was there for me
too, and so helpful and kind.”
Nanci LeRoy, office manager and mother, Atlanta, GA
